Opera. On July 12, a concert will be held in Dzintari concert hall Elina Garanca and friends. American tenor Jonathan Tetelman and Spanish soprano Marina Monso will take the stage alongside our most brilliant opera diva Elina Garanca. Maestro Karel Marks Shishon will be at the conductor’s desk. The first part of the evening will be devoted to Italian opera (Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Puccini, Verdi and Leoncavallo), the second part to passionate zarzuela and South American melodies.

Tradition. Until Saturday, July 9, concerts of the Ancient Music Festival will be held in Riga and Rundāle. Hana Blažikova (voice), Agnese Kanniņa (violin), Ieva Saliete (harpsichord) and Romina Liška (viola da gamba) will play music tonight in the Small Guild. On July 8, Riga St. St. John’s Church, the Latvian Radio Choir will perform under the direction of Kaspars Putniņš, while the vocal group will give a night concert in the Riga Cathedral Schola Cantorum Riga. On July 9, a children’s concert performance King Strazdubard will be held in Rundāle Palace, in the evening a series of violin concerts by Antonio Vivaldi will be heard in the garden of Rundāle Palace Seasons, the opus of Michel Richard Delalan, Jean-Baptiste Lulli, Giuseppe Sammartini and Jean-Philippe Rameau will also be heard. Tonight with the orchestra Sinfonietta Riga Violinist Kristīne Balanas will perform under the direction of Normunda Schne.

He started his career in Addis Ababa, but has been living in the United States since the 1980s. There Hailu Mergia worked as a taxi driver, he often played and composed in the car while waiting for passengers at the Washington airport.

The musical. A musical by composer Kārlis Lāčas was created in the concert hall of Emīlas Dārziņš of the National Arts High School Blow wind! a new production created by young people from four schools. The choreography was created by the 2nd year student of the Riga Ballet School, Betija Neċķe. The scenography created by the 3rd-year students of the Janis Rozentāls Art School and the costumes created by the 3rd-year students of the Riga Art and Media Technical School give the work a youthful glow. The creation of the visual image of the show was led by the artists’ association Countess. The roles will be performed by students and graduates of the Riga Dome Choir School. The young artist Mārtiņš Kagainis is responsible for the direction, Una Stade, head of the musical department of the Riga Dome Choir School, is responsible for the sound of the performance.

Classic. On Friday, July 8, the ensemble will perform in the Great Guild After Dark from Switzerland. This group of eighteen flutes was established in 2019 by the Estonian flautist Mārika Jervi, a representative of the famous Jervi dynasty of musicians. In the collective, she invited participants from Switzerland and France. The group’s repertoire includes both baroque music and jazz. Vivaldi, Fauré, Sibelius, Perth, Schneider and Metro opus will be played in Riga.
