#DiToo: A Comedy about Twin Sisters and Parallel Universes on the Kurzeme Seaside

#DiToo tells about the adventures of a twin sister in Papeži Ķņciem, a small settlement on the Kurzeme seaside, whose inhabitants, since the devastating storm in 1967, when the sea completely merged with the lake, have the ability to live simultaneously in several parallel cosmoses and possible histories. Over time, the sister leaves the village. Encountering the world’s prevailing ideas about female sexuality causes misunderstandings and awkward situations, and it is no longer possible to return to one’s native village. Does the sister know what to do now?

Kaspars Rolstein: “Monoopera #DiToo will be liked by people who like to attend comedies and do it not only to forget everyday difficulties, but also to have fun. Because when there is joy, as the Georgian philosopher Merab Mamardashvili says, then there is an opportunity to understand each other.”

Dita Lūriņa: “In today’s information field, real human relations tend to be replaced by political surrogates. For me as a director #DiToo is a winding gravel road home to the kind of love made of sweat, blood and happiness, not ideology. For me as an actress #DiToo have a date with my twin sister and to do that I had to meet Caspar Rolstein. To quote the author: “How good it is to have a person next to you who holds your hair when you are sick, when everything is spinning.” For all of us, the world still spins like the Vecpils rally stage along Lekši. If you stop by the theater, we’ll hold it for you.”

The creative team: director and actress Dita Lūriņa, costume designer Liene Rolštejna, lighting designer Krista Erdmanes, composer, author of the libretto and bass guitarist Kaspars Rolštejn.
