Through a video, the moment in which an 88-year-old woman is thrown out a window of a first floor apartment in the Bronx, apparently by his grandson, after he offered several stab wounds to his mother, police said.
The audiovisual shows the elderly lady coming out of the window at 1812 Clay Avenue around 7 in the morning last Friday, while her 61-year-old daughter was standing on the sidewalk.
The 61-year-old woman, dressed in a blood-stained white T-shirt, appears talking to the lady and after a short time, they can be seen two hands pushing the old lady out of the window, her body slowly climbed out of the gap before fall on the pavement.
In that order, the video clip reveals that the lady, after rolling on the floor, looks bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The building’s maintenance janitor, Ernest Thompson, said he went out to see what the commotion was and saw his tenants in anguish.
“I ran outside and saw his neck and his bruised side,” Ernest explained. “So I told him, wait for me, I’m going to look for the compresses to put on your wounds.”
“Before I had a chance to withdraw a few feet away, your son was already pushing his grandmother straight out the window,” he added.
Thompson, held the grandmother and tried to comfort her.
“When she fell, I grabbed her and was telling her not to move, to stay where she was, that I was going to look for help,” said the janitor, lowering himself to the ground and extending his arms, pretending that the grandmother was there. “At this moment, when crossing the street, the police were coming and the EMT was arriving at the corner. So there was nothing else I could do professionally other than pray for them.
Thompson maintained that he doesn’t know much about the son except that he had been living there for at least two years.
“Seeing my tenant, who is one of my best tenants, put in such despair, I didn’t know how to react,” he said. “I still haven’t assimilated it. I haven’t been able to process it yet. Not even 48 hours have passed. I’m trying to pray for her and pray that she is, well, that they are both well.”
Both women, of whom the police I do not reveal the identitywere brought to St. Barnabas in stable conditions.
Meanwhile, the son, Randy Sierra, 38, was found inside the residence with a self-inflicted stab wound to the chest. He was taken to the same hospital in critical condition and faces assault chargesthe police reported.
The grandmother told the police that she opened the window to ask for help because her grandson was scaring her. Before he pushed her, she told officers that he was putting pressure on her from behind as she dangled out of the window.
“I was seven steps away, I could have caught it if I had turned fastersaid the building’s janitor.
