After the competition in Zakopane Dawid Kubacki remains the leader of the general classification of the World Cup. However, there was a change in the second position – Anze Laniska replaced Halvor Egner Granerudwhich from Four Hills Tournament shows great shape. He won in the whole cycle, and then triumphed in the individual competition at Wielka Krokiew. He loses 114 points to the leader in the table.
There are still echoes of the conditions in which the last event was held. The very organization of the Sunday competition was a big surprise. The aura that prevailed that day from the very morning did not inspire optimism. A strong wind was blowing and even a large group of jumpers were convinced that everything would be cancelled.
“Looking at what was in the morning and until noon, It’s a miracle that the competition was held at all. I was not completely stressed by this wind, because I was already thinking about leaving Zakopane. I completely did not believe that anything would take place on Wielka Krokiew, “he said Pawel Wasek. “I didn’t think anything was going to happen here. I was very skeptical. However, I heard that the situation is supposed to improve around 14:00. And actually. I looked out the window and it started to blow less. I was shocked to see that at 4:00 pm, when the competition started, the wind died down. As if someone turned it off with a button” – he was accompanied by Kamil Stoch in front of the Interia microphone.
There is also a lot of discussion about the conditions under which it was allowed to start Dawid Kubacki in the second series of competitions in Zakopane. They were very unfavorable. The jumper himself did not complain and cut the subject short: “In my opinion, the jury certainly did not do anything out of anger. I exclude such a possibility. It is a matter of chance.”
But the reactions of Adam Małysz and Thomas Thurnbichler were different. “Right after the competition I was angry” – the coach admitted. “I’m angry. We are at home, there is a person who lets the jumpers go. And now this: Kamil sits on the beam for almost 40 seconds. It was obvious that the wind allows for a jump, Kamil is pulled down. Then the green light appears immediately. Dawid was in a similar situation: he climbs the beam, has terrible conditions and is released. This can not be! I’m terribly angry, even though I’m glad that David came second, but i’m angry about this situation” – added the president of the PZN on TVP Sport.
Are we now waiting for a repeat of the entertainment and next nerves? Forecasts from Sapporowhere the next World Cup will take place, are not the best.
What about the jumping competition in Sapporo? “It’s going to be a big problem on Saturday”
However, Tadeusz Mieczyński from skijumping.pl is optimistic about this topic. He believes that the competition (at least the Friday ones) will take place. “Friday is supposed to be quite ok when it comes to the wind, while in the afternoon there will be really intense snowfall and it may rain heavily. Who like who, but The Japanese can handle it and I don’t think it will threaten the planned series” – he tells the portal.
It adds something else. It turns out that trouble may arise on Saturday.
On Saturday there will be a big problem and maybe the organizers and the FIS will think about moving something. There are not many possibilities, because on Sunday some teams are already flying home, so it’s not really possible to shift something even for Sunday afternoon
