There is some very bad news in the football community. The legendary coach, Franciszek Smuda, is in critical condition. Blood cancer has become the cause of more health problems.
On Tuesday, August 13, information appeared about the critical condition of the Polish coach, who led, among others, the Polish national football team during EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, Wisła Kraków, Legia Warsaw, Lech Poznań and Widzew Łódź.

Przegląd Sportowy Onet spoke to a person from the coach’s closest circle and confirmed the information previously provided by TVP Sport. The former coach has been suffering from blood cancer for many years, which has become the source of many subsequent health problems. All this has accumulated and at the moment Smuda’s health situation is difficult.
Expressions of support have flowed in via Widzew Łódź’s social media. These are the words we can read in the club’s official statement.
“We wish you health in the most important match. Fight, Coach!” – it was written.
The 76-year-old is a legendary Polish coach. He has a rich career behind him. He was a long-time footballer, but also successfully managed teams. The last team he trained was Wieczysta Kraków (2021-2022).
