The data from the new report on sexual harassment in the workplace released on Friday morning is overwhelming; nearly one in two Quebecers say they have already observed or experienced inappropriate or discriminatory behavior with a sexual connotation in the workplace, reports The Press.
These behaviors are more denounced by women at 26%, compared to men at 13%.
The Minister of Labor, Jean Boulet, in an interview with Mario Dumont, said he was “concerned” by the data in the report.
“It requires a deeper analysis,” he adds.
The minister had appointed three experts, in February 2022, to analyze the “effectiveness” and “coherence” of the remedies for the victims.
One of the recommendations proposed by the experts was to create a specialized division on sexual assault in the workplace at the Administrative Labor Tribunal with appointees with expertise.
The MNA for Trois-Rivières wants greater legal representation for complainants, priority treatment of complaints made to the CNESST and education in the workplace, with awareness and prevention.
