NEW YORK – A deranged man who threw himself onto the subway tracks at the Washington Square Park station on Wednesday caused service delays of an hour as emergency personnel tried to remove him from the train track.
The incident was reported around 2:30 pm when the 42-year-old subject jumped onto the road.
Images captured by the New York Post show to the man walking between lines A and C at the West Fourth Street–Washington Square station in Manhattan.
Emergency services (EMS) employees tried to convince the man to get on the platform. Even users of the system threw tickets to see if they would persuade the stranger to move from the area.
The individual, whose name is unknown, is seen expressing himself repeatedly, although what he says is not heard.
It was not until 3:30 pm that the man reacted and climbed onto the platform.
The man was arrested by personnel from the New York Police Department (NYPD), although it is not clear what charges he would face.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
