District of Offenbach – The district administrator of the district of Offenbach, Oliver Quilling, and the managing director of the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, Karin Wolff, today signed a cooperation agreement that will come into force on July 1, 2022. This means that the district of Offenbach will initially join the Kulturfonds for up to three years. The state of Hesse, the shareholders’ meeting of the Kulturfonds and the district council of the Offenbach district had approved the step in advance. From the cooperation between the district and the culture fund, both sides expect a good and strong cooperation in favor of art and culture as well as a strengthening and further development of cultural life in the district of Offenbach and the entire metropolitan region of Frankfurt-Rhine-Main. In the last few weeks, the district and the culture fund had already begun to work together on two initial joint projects, the Burgfestspiele in Dreieich and the Kulturring in Seligenstadt with the monastery concerts.

The Kulturfonds has set itself the goal of consolidating and expanding the importance of the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main metropolitan region by promoting cultural and artistic projects. In addition to regional networking offers, the focus is primarily on projects that are recognized nationally and internationally. “We have been combining the cultural activities in our district under the umbrella brand ‘Culture(er)life’ for a number of years in order to achieve more radiance,” says District Administrator Oliver Quilling. “By concluding the cooperation agreement with the non-profit cultural fund Frankfurt RheinMain GmbH, we have reached the next level in our cultural funding. We already have a number of cultural beacons in the Offenbach district. Our goal is to make other events possible that radiate far beyond the district. That’s why we don’t want to lose any time and will be informing all cultural workers in the district in a few days about the cooperation that has now been concluded and the resulting opportunities.”

After the cooperation agreement comes into force, cultural institutions from the district can apply for funding from the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. The wide range of funding from the Kulturfonds, which ranges from concerts to performances, from theater to cultural education, from literature to photography and film, addresses a large number of different projects that, with a bit of luck, can benefit from the funding.

“In the district of Offenbach we have found a partner who expands the Kulturfonds network to include one of the most populous districts in the metropolitan region of Frankfurt-Rhine-Main and enables many new and exciting partnerships. We look forward to working with a region rich in culture and history. We are excited to see which creative and innovative projects we will be able to support in the next three years and are firmly convinced that everyone – the residents of the Offenbach district, but also initiatives, clubs, schools and museums – will benefit from the cooperation,” says Karin Wolff, Managing Director of the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain.

The cooperation agreement provides that the district of Offenbach will initially receive “probationary membership” in the culture fund for a period of up to three years and can decide within this period or afterwards whether it would like to join the fund permanently as a full member and shareholder. During the cooperation membership, the district receives the right to consult in the committees of the culture fund. The agreement stipulates that the district will pay EUR 1.60 per inhabitant to the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain per year – with a current population of just under 360,000, that is around EUR 575,000 per year. According to the basic principle of the culture fund, every euro paid in municipally is doubled by the state of Hesse. In addition to the state of Hesse, the cities of Frankfurt am Main, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Hanau, Bad Vilbel, Offenbach am Main and Oestrich-Winkel as well as the Main-Taunus and Hochtaunus districts are currently shareholders of the Frankfurt RheinMain culture fund.
