The International Building Exhibition (IBA) is an instrument of urban and regional development. Over a longer period of time, new ideas and projects on social, technological and ecological topics are implemented in a defined region, with particular attention to building culture aspects. The aim is to provide new impetus and to develop cities and regions in an unconventional way. The IBA for the Munich metropolitan region is the first in Bavaria. Another absolute novelty is that it is dedicated to the topic of mobility.
With the International Building Exhibition under the theme “Spaces of Mobility”, the Munich metropolitan region is advocating an ecological and at the same time innovative mobility transition. Over the next ten years, future issues will be addressed that will pave the way for a new regional mobility culture with the help of projects, partnerships and cooperation. The focus is on the quality of life and location in the Munich metropolitan region in harmony with climate protection.
The shareholders of the IBA Munich Metropolitan Region are the cities of Munich, Augsburg and Ingolstadt, the districts of Munich and Freising and the EMM eV. The district of Munich, as the second largest local authority in the Munich metropolitan region, is assigned a special role. The topic of mobility is of great importance to us due to our geographical positioning between the state capital Munich and the surrounding districts.
