District of Emmendingen: 166,862 people live in the 24 cities and municipalities in the district of Emmendingen – According to the State Statistical Office of Baden-Württemberg, the district’s population is again increasing slightly

According to the latest figures from the State Statistical Office, exactly 166,862 people were living in the 24 cities and communities between the Rhine and Kaiserstuhl at the end of 2020. Compared to the previous publication of the figures by the State Statistical Office (June 30, 2020: 166,650), this is an increase of 212 people within six months. The municipality of Bahlingen recorded the greatest increase with 86 more inhabitants. The district of Emmendingen last recorded a decline in the number of inhabitants in 2011 (then 156,723), since then the population has been growing continuously.

As far as population density is concerned, from a purely statistical point of view, 245 people in the Emmendingen district currently share one square kilometer (national value: 311 people), with a total size of the district of 67,980 km2. For comparison: There are 233 people in the Ortenau district, 191 in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and 1,511 in the Freiburg district.
