District group Mönchengladbach – Krefeld – Viersen: Old carelessness!

The annual planning of the district group board in February was tentative. Nobody knew yet how the pandemic would develop and what that would mean for us. Continue to wait and see how some things break away or disappear? We have resolutely countered this fear and have resolved to implement what is possible despite the restrictions. And behold, life seems to be getting back to normal. You can find your way back to community-building activities and old carefreeness.

The relaxed atmosphere could be heard from afar. From the Kleingartenvereinshaus Waldhausen in Rheydt, the happy laughter of those already present rang out. A middle-aged group had gathered for the traditional Baumstriezel baking. The women were already busy with the dough and the men skilfully celebrated their hobby craft over the coals. The heat of the grill was met with a cool beer and a Pali was good for everyone. The never-ending conversations are striking. After a long break, the joy of seeing each other again was great. We had a lot to tell each other. From corona infection to the Way of St. James covered, even a report on the Kilimanjaro ascent was not missing. In between, of course, we ate the delicious baked goods and felt soothing joy and gratitude. We are already looking forward to the next project, the bike tour followed by a BBQ on July 3rd. Everyone, with or without an e-bike, is cordially invited! We are sure that it will be great fun again, deepen our sense of togetherness and strengthen our community.

At this point we should not forget to say a very special thank you to those who actively contributed to the success of the Baumstriezel afternoon: Gretl and Ossi, Mitzi and Willi, Erna and Rick, Kathi and Karl – you were great again! Thanks also to everyone else who contributed to an enriching encounter by being there. It’s really nice to get back to old insouciance.
