District Gänserndorf – The GREENS came together for the congress

After the Lower Austrian state elections, in which the GREENS were able to regain club status, it was necessary to elect eight delegates for the state congresses and to send one representative to the state committee. The Deutsch-Wagram municipal councilor and chairperson of the examination board, Bettina Bergauer, was unanimously elected representative for the state board.

The following topics were also on the agenda in the district: public transport (e.g. the S10 train line as a direct connection to Donaustadt), climate change adaptation measures (e.g. preservation and expansion of the tree population in the region), further improvement of the cycling infrastructure (e.g. safe Cycle routes, especially for children, after the planning of the rapid cycle connections, the implementation should also take place) and the energy transition.

On the latter topic, the Strasshofer GRÜNEN had a very well-attended event in the House of Encounters in March. Since reducing heating costs and switching to renewable energy is currently one of the hottest topics, it was considered repeating this advisory format in other parts of the district.

Before the meeting, some of the participants cycled through Weikendorf, where new cycle paths were tested. The short, but all the wider bike highway at the industrial park (without subsequent bike crossing over the B8) was admired.
