The District Court in Parvomai issued an order for the immediate protection of a woman from the village of Vinnytsia under the Domestic Violence Protection Act after she was abused by her husband. This happened in front of the eyes of their three children, who washed away their mother’s blood with their own hands.
And in this case, the basis of aggression is male jealousy. The husband came home from work at noon and although their home was tidy and lunch was made, he was annoyed that his wife was looking at her phone. Raised a huge fuss, went behind her back and hit her on the head with a heavy object. A nearly 6 cm wound was opened, blood splattered everywhere and the children were forced to clean the floor, sofa and beds themselves from the blood stains.
After the impact, the woman was unconscious for hours and ended up in the hospital in Parvomai. The doctors there gave her first aid, but judged that her life was in danger, and transported her to UMBAL “St. Georgi” in Plovdiv, where the medics fought for her for nearly a week. Her condition was complicated by chronic hypertension and anemia. The mother of many has five stitches on her head, has memory loss and is still in severe pain. However, like Deborah’s case, the medical examiner’s conclusion was that it was “minor bodily harm”.
The injured woman is being cared for by her relatives, as even after the assault her husband did not stop threatening her. “He lives in constant fear and terror and is worried about another beating,” comments lawyer Atanas Atanasov from the Plovdiv College, who specializes in cases against domestic violence and has taken over the defense of the victim. According to him, her fears of suicide are well-founded, because years ago, while the husbands were working in Greece, the man beat her, but the authorities there took adequate measures.
Just since the beginning of the year, the District Court in Parvomai has issued nearly ten orders for the immediate protection of women victims of domestic violence.
