District Court of Dietikion: Did cosmetics company owner fraudulently obtain Covid loan?

Although he expected sales to be ten times higher, the defendant applied for a Covid loan

A 56-year-old Swiss man had to answer to the Dietikon District Court for fraud and forgery. He is said to have obtained a Covid loan by making up sales figures. The defendant washed his hands of the matter – the verdict is still pending.

This is not the first time that a person has had to answer to the Dietikon District Court for fraudulently obtaining a Covid loan.

It is well known that the Covid loans also attracted fraudsters and credit scammers. This newspaper has also reported on such cases. But the present case is special for two reasons: Firstly, the 56-year-old Swiss man was so amateurish when filling out the application form that the question arose whether the bank should have been allowed to grant the loan at all. And secondly, the defendant made a rather unusual statement last week – he appeared before the Dietikon District Court with gelled hair, pointed patent leather shoes and a Dolce & Gabbana belt buckle – on the allegations of fraud and forgery.
