ABOUTdistrict court – Burgas held its traditional “Open Day” with the organization of a quiz with the participation of students from Burgas schools, with arguments on court cases on the topic of “The Legal Point of View”. The initiative was a joint initiative of the judicial institution and the International Youth Center – Burgas.
„We are always excited to welcome the young people of the city of Burgas, who have shown an interest in law, because they are our tomorrow!”, with these words, the deputy president of the court, Vyara Kamburova, welcomed the participants. “We hope that we all believe in the justice of the law because it protects our rights and we give voice to your corrective to show us what the law means to you and how we should apply it.” said judge Kamburova.
In her address, she referred to the Swiss poet and philosopher, Henri-Frédéric Amiel, who said, “Freedom, equality – are bad principles! The only true principle for mankind is justice, and for the weak man justice is the protection of goodness.”
18 students from six Burgas schools took part in the judicial competition – Vocational High School for Computer Programming and Innovations – Burgas, English Language High School “Geo Milev”, representatives of the “Judicial Administration” class from “Yordan Yovkov” Secondary School, Science and Mathematics High School “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov”, Profiled High School for Romance Languages ”Georgi S. Rakovski” and Professional High School for Transport.
A professional jury with the participation of the district magistrates – judge Boryana Dimitrova and judge Simeon Mihov and the young lawyer and organizer of debates, Martin Mavrov, appreciated the zeal of young people to argue on court cases, think logically and express a civil position, as well as convincingly state their thesis.
The contestants also prepared on legal issues such as the types of authorities and courts in the Republic of Bulgaria; the function of the judiciary and the Supreme Judicial Council; the work of the judge, the prosecutor, the investigator; the criminal liability of minors, the exercise of their rights and other topics.
The “Open Day” is a traditional initiative of the court, which aims to show the work of the judicial institution.
“Our focus is always on young people, and all the initiatives we organize aim to introduce schoolchildren and students to the work of the judiciary. Informed, motivated and believe in justice, this is our mission as judges!”, the Administrative Head of the Burgas District Court, judge Rositsa Temelkova, is also categorical.
The participants in the court quiz were awarded certificates by the chairman of the District Court – Burgas and received gifts from the two partner organizations.
