District 2: Penny Lamarre takes to the wooded Quévillon

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. A hot issue in recent months, the future of Boisé Quévillon is once again inviting itself into the electoral debate in Granby. This time, it is the candidate in District 2, Penny Lamarre, who campaigns in favor of the conservation and the acquisition of the 60 hectare green space.

In a video posted on social networks, the candidate shows her attachment to the wooded area and the benefits it has on the community of Granby. “What is recurring, door after door, is the conservation of the Quévillon woodland and I want to commit myself, in front of you, to putting all my energy and my attention on this file,” commented Ms. Lamarre.

Beyond the flora and fauna, the contender for the post of advisor believes that it is vital to take care of this ecological gem in order to leave a legacy for the present and future generation. According to her, the safeguard of this wooded lot must be considered by the municipal authorities. The candidate also alleges that a windfall of solutions is at hand to finance her purchase. She mentions the conservation organization “Corridor Appalachien”, the Green Fund of the City of Granby and the SETHY Foundation to name but a few examples.

“We must sit down now with all the stakeholders and that is what I am committing to do with the council table, the citizens and the owners of this woodlot. I want to make every effort to conserve this beautiful woodland which has an impact on drinking water, the reduction of greenhouse gases and air quality. “
