Selection criteria for men’s and women’s national teams:
(1) Procedure for selecting the men’s and women’s singles representatives (maximum quota of 5 each) (Note 1)
The athletes who qualified for the Durban Games in the Asian Continental Preliminary Round will be the representatives of the Durban Games.

(2) Selection method of representative pairs for men’s, women’s and mixed doubles (Note 1)
The couples who qualified for the Durban Games in the Asian continental preliminary round will be the representatives of the Durban Games.
(Note 1) ・The number of shares for each continent will be determined after the announcement of the 2023 world rankings in the third week.

(3) Selection by share of world ranking recommendation (Note 2) (Note 3)
Submit the maximum number of athletes and couples who participated in the Asian Continental Qualifying Round at the World Championships using the Asian Continental share and the World Ranking recommendation share.

If the representative players and representative pairs do not win the maximum quota in the Asian continental qualifiers, the players and pairs who are clearly recommended in the world ranking (announced 12th week of 2023 (hereinafter referred to as WR12)) will be classified in the announced world ranking from WR12 Secure the maximum participation fee for the Japanese team by using the recommendation fee.

・Even if the World Ranking Recommendation fee is obtained for players/teams who did not participate in the Asian Continental Qualifiers, players/teams who did not participate in the Asian Continental Qualifiers cannot participate in the Durban Games.

・If the maximum altitude is not reached even after using the Asian mainland altitude and world ranking altitude, the following will apply.

1) Athletes who have won the Asian Continental Quota and are uncertain of achieving the World Classification Recommendation Quota in WR12 will use the Asian Continental Quota.

2) Athletes who have won the Asian Continental quota and who are certain to acquire the World Ranking Recommendation quota in WR12 will use the World Ranking Recommendation quota.

3) If there are players who have not won the Asian Continental Quota and there is a vacant Asian Continental Quota, they will be selected in order of selection points.

4) If there is a player who did not get a frame in 1) to 3) above and there is a vacancy in the WR12 World Ranking recommendation frame, he will be selected in order of selection points.

5) If two doubles pairs do not win the Asian continent quota, and if there is a vacancy in the WR12 world ranking recommendation quota, the selection will be made by the strengthening venue.

The ITTF will announce further details on the Durban contest guidelines and, if there is any discrepancy with these selection criteria, the board will discuss them again.

Only in the event that the representative decider is unable to participate due to injury or other reasons, regardless of participation in the continental qualifiers, the strengthening venue will decide the substitute players and pairs in accordance with the tournament requirements for the ITTFs Durban Games.

* Players who have transferred their registration to the Japan Table Tennis Association from associations in other countries and regions must meet the qualification requirements for the World Championships established by the ITTF as a prerequisite for selection.
