Food distributors held a protest event at noon in Limassol. They complained about the frequent violent incidents against them, asking for protection in the performance of their work.
The protesters gathered in the embankment area and marched shouting slogans. “We want justice”, they said, among other things, complaining that unknown people are attacking them, taking their money, during their work, especially in the evening.
In his statements, the deputy press representative of ADE Limassol Marinos Vassiliou said that the police are taking more measures with targeted patrols in specific places where these attacks have been seen.
Mr. Vassiliou confirmed that the reasons for the racist attacks are not for financial gain, that is, the theft of money, goods carried by the distributors.
“Also, information or testimonies from the various places of robbery or theft are evaluated to solve these cases. It should also be noted that a person was recently arrested and is in custody, while two others, one of whom is a minor, are still being sought,” he said.
