Distribution of Hilton Quota 2023/24 by the National Government: Approved Meat Exports and Winning Bidders Revealed

The national government approved this Monday the distribution of almost 30 thousand tons of the Hilton Quota 2023/24, hours before contemplating the closure of meat exports. The Hilton quota includes high-quality boneless beef chilled cuts assigned by the European Union (EU) to Argentina.

Through resolution 306/2023 published in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Agriculture defined that, of the 28,293,122 assigned tons, a balance of 1,095,878 will integrate the Free Availability Fund.

As reported by the state agency Télam, the measure granted the winning bidders Frigorífico Alberdi and Carnes Pampeanas the treatment of “Economic Group”, for the purposes of determining the corresponding Hilton Quota tonnage.

On the other hand, the registration of firms authorized to export 111 tons was approved, within the tariff quota opened by the United Kingdom, for the period between July 1 and June 30, 2024.

The allocation of tonnage will be governed by the international criteria “first come, first served” according to the date of registration of the applications, to access the certificate of Authenticity in the Export Quota Administration System. The value of the average ton of the cuts of the Hilton Quota is US$ 12,000, for which it is estimated that some US$ 339.5 million will enter the country.

How the Hilton Fee was distributed

For the industry category, 36 refrigerators were selected, among which 25,328.536 tons were distributed.

Swift was the main winning plant with 2,606.26 tons; followed by Quickfood, with 2,317,816; Gorina, with 1,805; the Import and Export Limited Company of La Patagonia, known as La Anónima, with 1,800.21; Rio de la Plata, with 1,779,138; Arrebeef, with 1,707,353; Friar, with 1,460,899.

The list includes Coto, with 1,408,657 tons; Bernal Company, with 1,280,263; Pampean Meats, with 958,300; Rafaela Alimentos, with 828,083; Frimsa, with 810; Ecocarnes, with 748,431; Achievements, with 704,047; Santa Giulia, with 589,458; Alberdi Refrigerator, with 584,112; Blue Natural Beef, with 580,883; Forres Beltrán, with 562,692; Black Bamboo, with 430,836; Offal Exp, with 350; Cattermeat, with 325,499; and General Pico, with 312,598 tons.

Meanwhile, 14 plants, with quotas ranging from 50 to 252,121 tons, close the Hilton exporter registry.

For the category of joint projects, 26 breeders’ associations and small and medium-sized rural establishments dedicated to cattle breeding were selected, among whom 2,477,011 tons were distributed. In addition, the 387.5 tons for two new industries accessing the quota for the first time, and the 100,075 tons for another four new joint projects, were fully completed.
