A distillery apologizes profusely to the residents of São Lourenço de Bairro, Portugal.

The reason is that two solid red wine tanks exploded – which led to a flood of red wine washing through the small village.
A whopping 2.2 million liters of wine flowed like a river down the streets, according to the Portuguese newspaper Aveiro Daily Newspaper.
Sent out an emergency alert
The spill was so large that the local authorities issued an emergency notice to warn the 2,300 inhabitants.
The fire brigade moved out and diverted the red wine flood to a field, so that it did not flow out, and thus pollute, a nearby river.
None of the residents were injured as a result of the red wine river, and there is said to have been little material damage.

Furthermore, the distillery writes that although the incident did not cause any injuries, they want to “express their sincere concern”.
They write that the incident is being investigated by the police.
“We take full responsibility for the costs associated with the clean-up and repairs,” they write, before once again apologizing that 2.2 million red wine flooded through the village.
