Dissatisfaction rises against Biden – two misstatements in one week

The misstatements this week are just two in a row from US President Joe Biden – and something that the Republicans like to exploit in their campaigning.

The president’s popularity figures have fallen during the term. When compared to other presidents at this point in the term, he is now the least popular president in modern times.

According to a measurement from fivethirtyeight55.7 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with his presidency.

This week also saw a report in the case where Biden was investigated for having kept secret documents in his garage after his stint as vice president. The investigator dropped the charges and describes in the report how Biden appears as a “well-meaning older man with a bad memory”, and mentions that the president had difficulty remembering the time when his son Beau passed away.

Biden: “I know what I’m doing”

In a statement on Thursday, the president did not mince his words in his criticism of this part of the report:

– How the hell does he even dare to bring it up?

Biden’s son Beau died of brain cancer in 2015, and the president was visibly upset when he broached the subject at a special press conference following the report’s release.

– When I was asked that question, I thought, quite frankly, that this is not what they forbade me to do.

Biden also said there is nothing wrong with his memory.

– I am well meaning and I am an older man. And I know what I’m doing. As president, I got this country back on its feet.
