Büdingen (leo). The case is a year old. In Michelau, plants grow from a private property onto a public area in an apparently unlawful manner. Markus Gerlach, local mayor and administrative branch manager (CDU), pointed out to the affected citizen that a dispute had arisen and, as a result, a standard arbitration procedure had taken place. In addition, there were costs for a lawyer amounting to almost 5,400 euros, which the city had to pay.
From the SPD’s perspective, this is a case that raises many questions. Because the city administration, from the Social Democrats’ point of view, responded inadequately, the parliamentary group requested that a file inspection committee be convened at the most recent meeting of the city council.
Although the city has now admitted that Gerlach acted in his role as branch manager, the SPD does not understand why a law firm from Frankfurt is involved in an arbitration procedure. The fact that the city had to spend more than 5,000 euros on this and released this money in two positions is incomprehensible and should have been dealt with in the city council. The fact that the proceedings were terminated is also a mystery to the SPD.
»We want to know what happened there. What documents are there about this? Why did a lawyer have to get involved? Why was there no amicable agreement that would have cost less than 100 euros? We want to have these questions clarified in the file inspection committee,” says SPD parliamentary group leader Manfred Scheid-Variso in an interview with this newspaper.
