Displays reign supreme as the modern Porsche Cayenne showcases its interior.

Porsche is preparing us for the premiere of the significantly modernized Cayenne model with another taster. It revealed the dashboard of the car, which among other things got more displays.

The current third generation of the successful Cayenne model has been produced since 2017, so it deserves some refreshment. Porsche decided on a significant modernization, which should affect both appearance and technology. The unveiling of the news began in February with the publication of photos and a video of the testing of camouflaged prototypes. The German automaker now continues with the introduction of an undisguised dashboard.

Although at first glance it might seem that not much has changed, the modifications are extensive. Designers are said to have been inspired by the brand’s other models, such as the electric Taycan, and customer feedback when designing the updated dashboard. In front of the driver there is a new steering wheel and behind it is a 12.6-inch instrument panel, now fully digital – so the previous analogue tachometer has disappeared. The display can display data in seven different styles, including a minimalist mode for the least distraction to the driver.

But that will be taken care of by the 12.3-inch infotainment display, the size of which has remained unchanged, but is placed a little higher in the dashboard. And if those screens were not enough, a 10.9-inch display in front of the passenger can be added as an option, which is flush with the main infotainment screen. Through his display, the passenger can not only control the navigation or the music being played, but also, for example, watch Internet videos. According to Porsche, the special filter is to ensure that the driver cannot see the content being played from his seat.

Another traditional element that is disappearing from the Cayenne is the key start on the left under the steering wheel. Starting will still be on the left, just using the normal button. To the right under the steering wheel, between the instrument panel and infotainment displays, the gearbox selector moved in. It freed up space on the central tunnel, which now offers slightly larger storage spaces and redesigned ventilation controls. Although it has adopted a glass look, it is still made up of physical buttons.

The new standard equipment should include USB-C ports on the front and back or a refrigerated case for storing the phone, which also functions as a wireless charger. For example, the dashboard decorations are also new. The full unveiling of the updated Porsche Cayenne is scheduled for April 18, when it will appear at the Shanghai Auto Show.
