New research refutes a common belief that spontaneous sex is more pleasurable than planned. Psychologists have proven that this stereotype has no solid grounds.
The study was carried out in two stages. In the first part, the researchers recorded participants’ beliefs about which sex was more satisfying using open-ended questions.
They then followed the participants’ sex lives and levels of sexual satisfaction over 21 days to see if these beliefs were in any way related to reality.
The results showed that sexual satisfaction can depend both on our prejudices and on actual experience, so planned sex is not always worse than spontaneous.
