‘Moana’, also known as ‘Vaiana’ in Dutch, is getting the live action treatment from Disney. This was announced by ‘The Rock’ during a meeting for the company’s shareholders. Dwayne Johnson provided the voice of demigod Maui when the film first appeared in 2016. In an announcing video, he says that he will also take on the same role in the new version. It is not yet known who will play the title role of Moana.
Disney is in the process of completely revamping their classic catalog. Remakes of ‘Pinocchio’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Lady and the Tramp’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ have already appeared. Later this month, the remake of ‘Peter Pan’, titled ‘Peter and Wendy’, will be released on Disney+.
