The thirty-something has always been a fan of Disney, and she “recently returned” to the Marvel universe. Next to her, David, 34, has been a lifelong Disney fan. The New York Hotel reopened its doors to the public on Monday, June 21. But this weekend was dedicated to the biggest fans of the American entertainment business. Maureen and David are one of them. They both maintain websites dedicated to Disneyland but are not group employees.
Opened at the same time as the amusement park and the six other Disney hotels, in Seine-et-Marne, in 1992, the New York hotel had closed in 2019 for eighteen months of work. The place has been completely redone. It retains its New York spirit, but now features 350 works of art inspired by Marvel. There are paintings but also real-size representations of Spider-Man or Captain America. “We don’t pretend to be in the Marvel universe,” warns Laurent Cayuela, designer-writer at Walt Disney Imagineering. We have kept the New York elegance of this hotel but adding a Marvel touch. The works present different styles. “
Spider-Man et Black Widow
David will spend his first night at the renovated hotel in a Spider-Man room. “It suits me very well. The style is very clean but with colorful works. Maureen will sleep in a room with artwork depicting the character of Black Widow (the Black Widow). “I am very happy to have this one, but all the rooms are very nice. I plan to live all year round in the Spider-Man suite, ”laughs the young woman.
Both fans were familiar with the old version of the hotel. “I rediscovered it today, guided by an Art Guardian, enthuses David. I realized the level of detail of the finishes. It is a pleasure to get lost in the floors. It’s an explosion of the Marvel Universe from all sides. The hotel is as interesting for adult fans, because there are specialized works, as it is for families and children because there are lots of fun places. “
Two presidential suites
One of those fun places is the recreation of the bedroom of Peter Parker, the civil name for Spider-Man. All the furniture is glued to the ceiling. The New York – The Art of Marvel hotel has 561 rooms spread over eight floors. The Disney Group is proud to announce that the establishment includes not one, but two presidential suites. One night for two in a standard room is advertised at 390 euros on the hotel’s website. But the cheapest rate at the earliest date is 650 euros. Without breakfast, but with two entrances to the Disneyland Paris park.
