Disneyland will close three attractions for seasonal renovations during the busy winter holidays just as the holiday season kicks into high gear at the Anaheim theme parks.
Storybook Land Canal Boats, Casey Jr. Circus Train and the nightly show “Fantasmic” will temporarily close in December as part of the standard renovation program at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The three new attractions closing join Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pixie Hollow and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, which were already closed for renovations.
The Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train attractions that intertwine in Fantasyland at Disneyland will be closed for less than a week in early December.
Storybook Land Canal Boats will undergo a seasonal remodel Dec. 2-5, while Casey Jr. Circus Train will be closed Dec. 2-6.
“Fantasmic” at Disneyland’s Rivers of America will be closed weekdays in December, except Christmas week.
Dark dates for “Fantasmic” include: December 2-5, December 9-12, December 16-19, and December 31.
The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure dark attraction at Disney California Adventure will reopen on Saturday, November 30 after a month-long renovation.
The Big Thunder Mountain mine train coaster in Frontierland, offering the wildest ride in nature, will reopen on December 13 after a month-long renovation.
The Pixie Hollow gathering area in Fantasyland, where visitors shrink to fairy size to visit Tinkerbell, has been closed since September and is not expected to return before early January.
The “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” show closed in April and won’t return until early 2025 as part of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration.
“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will be presented on its own initially when the new animatronic show debuts in 2025 and will then be presented in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House.
El Hyperion Theater in DCA’s Hollywood Land, Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theater and the Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland remain closed with no upcoming shows in the works.
Disneyland is using the Fantasyland Theater to meet the characters, decorate cookies, make crafts and tell stories during the Christmas holiday season that runs through January 6.
