Disney + will also stream The Simpsons in 4: 3 ratio from the end of May after criticism – IT Pro – Geeks

Disney will make episodes of The Simpsons available in the original 4: 3 aspect ratio on its Disney + video platform starting late May. Those episodes are now on Disney + with an aspect ratio of 16: 9, cutting off part of the picture.

As of late May, 4: 3 versions of the first nineteen seasons and part of season twenty of The Simpsons will be available through the streaming service, reports the company. Viewers are given the choice of which version they want to see. It was already clear in November last year that the company is working on making the episodes available in their original state, but Disney did not mention a term yet.

Disney responds with the adaptation to criticism from fans of the series. On Disney +, all episodes of The Simpsons are in a 16: 9 widescreen format. As of 2009, the episodes were made in 16: 9, before that the animated series was 4: 3. Disney said the entire series would be streamed in widescreen format for its ‘visual quality’ and consistency.

Social media users pointed out that some visual jokes of the series missed their effect by converting to 16: 9, because parts of the animation were cut off and were no longer visible. But in addition, fans complained anyway that the images were not fully visible in the original state.
