Disney Stricts Moonlight Director Barry Jenkins For New Lion King Movie | NOW

Disney is working on a follow-up to the live action remake of The Lion King which appeared in 2019. Deadline reports Tuesday that the film will be directed by Barry Jenkins, known for his films Moonlight in If Beale Street Could Talk.

Jenkins says in an initial response that it is a dream come true to collaborate with Disney’s story The Lion King expand. He takes over from Jon Favreau, who directed the 2019 version. Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the script for the previous live action remake, is also writing the story for the upcoming movie.

According to sources surrounding the film, the film focuses, among other things, on the early years of Mufasa, Simba’s father in the original story.

The live action remake from 2019 with the voices of Donald Glover and Beyoncé raised around 1.4 billion euros worldwide. Two million cinema tickets were sold in the Netherlands in the first four weeks. It is not yet clear when the next part should be released in the cinema.
