Disney and Lucasfilm may unveil a new Star Wars game in December. Yesterday, companies kicked off “a global consumer product, game and publication campaign” that will launch new “Star Wars toys, collectibles, books, clothing and more” every Tuesday through the end of the year .
In the first week of the “Bring Home the Bounty” promotion, new Star Wars action figures, Funko Pops and clothing were announced.
An image indicating upcoming announcements suggests a video game-related reveal slated for December 14th, though it’s unclear at this point whether it will be a brand new title or something smaller.
Lucasfilm confirmed in January that the Star Wars exclusive contract with EA is expiring and that they will be working with Ubisoft on a new open world game. Even as EA’s exclusive deal draws to a close, the company continues to develop Star Wars games, even though it hinted in July that it wouldn’t announce any new games until 2022.
BioWare will be releasing a new Star Wars: The Old Republic expansion for the MMO’s 10th anniversary this year, and it was recently confirmed that EA Studio’s classic RPG Knights of the Old Republic will hit Nintendo Switch this year .
This is not to be confused with the KoTOR remake of Aspyr, which was announced as a PC and PS5 console exclusive game in September.
An unannounced Star Wars game is also reportedly in development at Quantic Dream. It is claimed that the title will feature more traditional action gameplay than previous titles in the Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human franchises.
