Disney + had already launched GroupWatch in the United States. And now the position is also coming to the Netherlands. It is also available here immediately.
With the help of GroupWatch you can watch a stream with six other people at the same time. By clicking on the GroupWatch icon, you can invite up to six people to watch together. The stream can then be paused by all participants. Users can also respond to what they see with the help of emoji that can then be seen on the screen.
All a subscription
You can only invite people to GroupWatch who have an account. This means that you cannot invite someone as a guest. Furthermore, as a user you can only participate in one such session. And the participants with whom you use it must all reside in the same country.
GroupWatch is somewhat reminiscent of the ‘watch party’ functionality that Amazon Prime Video offers. According to Disney, it responds to the desire of many to watch together in these times of social distancing.
