Disney has uncovered the most realistic lightsaber

Disney caused a crack on Tuesday. He introduced namely, the most realistic replica of the so-called lightsaber so far. The “real” lightsaber, introduced on the symbolic date of May 4, is not for sale. At least not yet. However, with its premiere, the multinational entertainment and media conglomerate opened the door to promote its new Star Wars themed hotel: Galactic Starcruiser in Orlando, Florida.

The company has had a patent for four years

The resort is due to open next year and promises fans accommodation for two nights, among which a series of unique attractions and experiences from the world of Star Wars awaits them. As is also the newly introduced working lightsaber. And fans hope that even with a price tag to buy. They recall that Disney registered a patent for the so-called “sword device with a retractable and internally lit blade” as early as 2017.

Disney draws attention to the parks being discussed

But now the company is focusing mainly on its amusement parks. You for the first quarter of this year they reported a loss of $ 119 million, which is about 2.5 billion crowns. Revenues in their segment fell by 53 percent year on year to $ 3.9 billion, or about 77 billion crowns.

The biggest ever Disneyland in Anaheim in california, it lost up to $ 4.3 billion in 412 days, which is roughly 92.5 billion crowns. The amusement park segment accounted for 38 percent of Disney’s total revenue in 2019.

Finally slightly profitable. Investors cooled slightly

Parks in California currently open a quarter of capacity, while those in Florida open at 35 percent to make at least a modest profit over operating costs. The nearest Disneyland, which Czechs can also visit, is in Paris and should open in mid-June. Shares of the entire conglomerate added to the price this year so far only a percentage, while last year they grew by up to 25 percent.

In the first year of covid, investors apparently still trusted the brand, driven by the knowledge that, for example, the Disney + streaming service had already exceeded the number of subscribers planned for 2024 at the end of 2019, ie 90 million people. As of December 31, it registered 4.9 million more. So far, it is still loss-making due to high initial investments, but it should reach the expected profit within those three years.
