Disney+ is expected to hit more than $11 billion in annual ad revenue within five years, more than Netflix and YouTube combined.
Digital TV Research predicts Disney+ will be the biggest video streaming platform in the world in advertising revenue ($11.4 billion) in 2028, after launching a cheaper ad-supported subscription in the United States last December.
That figure would dwarf other global streaming platforms that offer advertising, such as Paramount+ ($5.4 billion) and YouTube ($5 billion). Netflix, which also launched a basic subscription with advertising in late 2022, is expected to hit $4.6 billion in ad revenue by 2028.
By 2028, nine platforms are expected to generate more than $3 billion in ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) revenue (five globally, three in the US, and one in China).
Global AVOD revenue for TV series and movies will reach $91 billion in 2028, up from $41 billion in 2022. The US will contribute 41% of the 2028 total, adding $20 billion between 2022 and 2028.
By 2028, nine platforms will generate AVOD revenues exceeding $3 billion, including five globally, three in the United States and one in China. The market will remain fragmented.
