Disney actor David Henrie shared on his Instagram account a family Catholic tradition that helps grow in virtue while decorating the Christmas tree.
This December 21, Henrie published some photos with his son James, where they put a new ornament on the tree, a red sphere where the Holy Family can be seen.
“What are your Christmas traditions? One that we do every year is the ‘virtue ornaments’. The tree starts out empty, and every time the children perform acts of virtue, they are rewarded with an ornament to put on the tree,” she noted.
The actor encouraged his followers to share the traditions they have in their families for this liturgical time.
One user pointed out that they wait to put the Baby Jesus in the Nativity scene that they have in the patio and they begin “with the Three Wise Men at the edge of the patio and we slowly bring them closer to the Nativity scene day after day until the Epiphany.”
“Christmas Eve was my father’s birthday, so every year I do a holy hour for his soul,” another user noted.
“I grew up doing this and now we do it with our children; We wait to put the Baby Jesus in the manger. Throughout Advent, when children do a good deed, they can put a piece of straw in the empty manger. So when Christmas comes and Jesus comes, his bed is soft and warm,” another person added in a comment.
Henrie’s family tradition has inspired his followers, who have decided to follow his example at home or with the children at their schools.
Henrie often shares his Catholic faith on his networks and has currently joined Cross Catholic Outreach to bring toys to children in need this Christmas with the “Box of Joy”.
In an interview with ChurchPOP editor Jacqueline Burkepile, the actor noted that the Catholic faith is the most important thing in his life.
“It is the most important thing in my life. So I’m going to be myself. “I’m going to be authentic and I don’t have any kind of agenda to share,” she noted.
“I’m working hard. I believe that actions speak louder than words. The famous quote from St. Francis about using words only when necessary comes to mind. So for me, I just try to live my faith as best as possible and “let my actions speak for themselves.”
