The origins of Disney go back to 1923, when Walter Elias Disneya young advertising artist from Kansas City, produced a series of silent short films that immersed a heroine named Alice in an enchanted universe.
The series marked the launch of the animation studio and was the cornerstone of the saga. The contract signed by Walt Disney to distribute “Alice in Wonderland” appears in the exhibition, open until September and which will also visit other European cities.

“Many children and young people today do not understand that Walt Disney was a real person”said Becky Cline, director of the Disney archive. The characters, she explains, came to outshine the creator. The show is a “great opportunity to tell stories about Walt Disney himself and show that all the foundations of the company started with him,” she added.

The exhibit also explains how Disney built his empire through the acquisition of studios like pixar and marvel, and the film franchise Star Wars. The magical kingdom also became a key player in live broadcasts through Disney+which has about 161 million subscribers.
The choice of Munich is not accidental: Disney was inspired by Neuschwanstein Castlesouth of the city, to create the castle of Sleeping Beauty, which became the famous logo of the group.
