Thus, Prystaiko was dismissed from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
In addition, he will no longer hold the position of Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) concurrently.
What preceded this
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said he “wants to see a little bit of gratitude from Ukraine” for the help his country is providing. At the same time, he added that the countries of the West are not Amazon, and they cannot fulfill all the requests of Ukraine.
After that, British Prime Minister Risha Sunak had to make excuses for Wallace’s words. He noted that Zelensky and the Ukrainians have repeatedly thanked his country for the assistance provided.
In addition, Zelensky said that Ukraine has always been grateful to Britain for its support, so Wallace’s statement is unfounded. He noted that we “can wake up in the morning and thank the minister personally.”
Prystaiko called Zelensky’s statement “unhealthy sarcasm” and added that it is not needed in relations between friendly countries.
Vadim Prystayko
Zelensky appoints Prystaiko as ambassador to Britain July 20, 2020. Prior to that, he was the head of the Foreign Ministry in the government of Alexei Goncharuk.
In 2017-2019, Prystaino was Ukraine’s Ambassador to NATO, then served as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, and after the reorganization, Deputy Head of the President’s Office.
