Firli Bahuri was officially dismissed from his leadership position KPK. The Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) talks about the figure of I Nyoman Wara as a candidate to replace Firli.
MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman touched on the election of a replacement for KPK leader Lili Pintauli who will step down in 2022. At that time, President Jokowi submitted the names of Johanis Tanak and Nyoman Wara.
“When we talk about previous selections, like it or not, I don’t want to be seen as supporting someone. Yesterday Mr. Tanak and Mr. Nyoman Wara proposed it. That means, that’s all that’s left, Mr. Tanak has been chosen (Lili’s replacement), the rest is Mr. Nyoman Wara,” said Boyamin, when contacted, Friday (29/12/2023).
According to Boyamin, the election of the next KPK leadership does not need to take too long. He said President Jokowi just had to submit a name and then it would be approved by the DPR.
“There’s no need to drag it out for a long time, to slow down this issue and not immediately fill in the people. If the four people are shuffled again, then there will be another selection committee to evaluate, at least two people later by the DPR,” he said.
“I think it’s enough for the government to just propose Mr. Nyoman Wara and then the DPR will approve it quickly,” he said.
I Nyoman Wara is the Main Inspector of the Supreme Audit Agency. For Boyamin, the KPK needs a leader with an auditor background.
“The KPK needs qualified auditors and Mr. Nyoman Wara is qualified. Like it or not, I have to support someone, not good or bad, but just for effectiveness, so that five people are appointed and the chairman is appointed. Whoever the chairman is,” he said.
DPR Commission III Waits for President’s Proposal
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed a Presidential Decree (Keppres) dismissing Firli Bahuri as KPK leader. Commission III of the DPR said that it would immediately schedule the election of a new KPK leader if it received Jokowi’s presidential letter (surpres).
“Of course we will follow up on Mr. Jokowi’s official dismissal of Mr. Firli. As regulated in Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2019, in the event of a vacancy in the leadership of the KPK, a replacement will be chosen from a candidate for the leadership of the KPK who was not previously elected,” said the deputy. Chairman of Commission III DPR Habiburokhman told reporters, Friday (29/12/2023).
Habiburokhman said that his party would schedule a meeting to replace Firli as soon as possible after receiving the surpres. However, he said, the meeting would only be scheduled after the DPR ends its recess on January 15 2024.
“As soon as we get an official copy of the dismissal, we will schedule the election of a replacement KPK leader, Mr. Firli Bahuri,” he said.
“We are currently on recess until mid-January 16, the new election process will begin during the next session,” he added.
