Dismantling of Criminal Gang in Metropolitan Lima: Weapons, Vehicles, and Scams Exposed

Peruvian National Police Dismantles Criminal Gang with Arsenal of Weapons in Metropolitan Lima

In a major operation, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) successfully dismantled a criminal gang that was involved in various criminal activities in Metropolitan Lima. The operation took place in the Pampa Flores area of Pachacámac, resulting in the capture of 11 individuals, including eight men and three women, all of Peruvian nationality.

The police agents were alerted by citizens who accused the group of crimes against property, extortion, and land trafficking. As they entered the wasteland, they were surprised to find a row of vehicles parked outside a building. Acting swiftly, the police arrested all the individuals present at the compound.

During the search, the police discovered a large cache of war weapons, indicating the ferocity with which these criminals operated. The arsenal included a mortar grenade, seven firearms (including a breech-loading shotgun, a revolver, and five pistols), as well as boxed and loose cartridges.

Commander Angulo, the general commander of the PNP, emphasized that this operation was a significant blow to crime. The seizure of two bulletproof vests, a white van with a firearm inside, and four motorcycles (one of which was stolen) further highlighted the extent of the gang’s criminal activities.

According to Commander Angulo, the criminals had been posing as members of the police force to intimidate their victims. This revelation was supported by the discovery of five canvas vests from the High Complexity Crime Investigation Division (Diviac) in the possession of the criminals.

In addition to the weapons and vehicles, the PNP also uncovered a finance system operated by the gang known as Los Colochos del Gota a Gota. This system allowed the gang to control borrowed money, payment installments, and deadlines. It was revealed that a single person in charge of collecting payments could collect up to S/600 in a day. The PNP estimates that there were a total of 11 extortionists charging daily.

The successful dismantling of this criminal gang is a significant achievement for the Peruvian National Police in their ongoing efforts to combat crime in Metropolitan Lima. The seizure of the weapons and the exposure of the gang’s finance system will undoubtedly contribute to making the city safer for its residents.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police to help in the fight against criminal organizations like Los Colochos del Gota a Gota.
