Disk! Car sales stop again, Hyundai makes a surprise

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Auto sales are leading more and more to normal. As of August 2022, factory-to-retailer sales (wholesalers) recorded sales of 96,956 units. This number is 10,711 units more than the 86,245 units in July, an increase of 12.4%. On an annual basis, sales in August 2022 also increased by 16.4% from 83,319 units.

Overall, 658,232 units were sold in the 8 months of 2022 underway. This figure increased by 21.1% or 114,808 units compared to January-August 2021 which sold 543,424 units.

In these 8 months Toyota remains champion by selling 209,631 units with a percentage of 31.8%, followed by Daihatsu with 121,617 units or 18.5%, then Honda in third place with 83,611 units or 12.7%, Mitsubishi below with 69,019 units o 10.5% and the fifth are 56,944 units equal to 8.7%.

In August, Toyota sold 30,844 units, followed by Daihatsu with 15,339 units. Then there was Honda which sold 11,427 units. Mitsubishi is in fourth place with 9,700 units and Suzuki which has sold 8,064 units.

Surprisingly enough, Hyundai began climbing to top 6 sales in August 2022. Last month, sales hit 5,700 units. Meanwhile, in the 8 months of 2022, sales reached 19,244 units. This means that nearly 1/3 of this year’s sales were made last month.
