Disinformation sites in the Czech Republic are working again. Except for Aeronet

According to Sládek, the main goal of this measure at the time of the start of the aggression of the Russian Federation was to limit the spread of false and misleading information in the online space, which sought to relativize, justify or approve aggression. According to him, these sites no longer pose a threat from this point of view.

The association would further block the websites only if it was ordered to do so by a court, the Police of the Czech Republic or another competent state body. “As no such decision of the mentioned bodies was received by the CZ.NIC association, seven domain names of disinformation websites have now been returned to the zone. The eighth domain name, specifically Aeronet.cz, does not meet the rules for domain name registration, in the sense that it does not have the correct information about the holder in the register, “said the spokesman.

The association also called on the holder of the Aeronet.cz domain name to correct the data, and since this has not yet happened and the holder does not communicate with the association, according to Sládek, the last tool to warn him that Moon. If the data is corrected, the domain will be operational immediately. Otherwise, it will be canceled and released for registration.

In connection with the invasion of Ukraine, CZ.NIC blocked the websites Aeronet.cz, Protiproud.cz, Ceskobezcenzury.cz, Voxpopuliblog.cz, Prvnizpravy.cz, Czechfreepress.cz, Exanpro.cz and Skrytapravda.cz at the end of February.

Blocking disinformation sites has halved their traffic. This follows from the information of the Czech elves civic movement, which is fighting against misinformation.

List of blocked domains

Last month, the CZ.NIC association began publishing a list of blocked domains, which is now freely available online. It currently contains 584 records.

“The purpose of publishing this list is to increase the transparency of the exclusion of domain names from the DNS. The list will be regularly updated for various reasons of non-compliant domains, and in addition to these records, those interested will also find the reasons why the blocking took place, “said Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of the CZ.NIC Association.

The reason for blocking may be the filling in of incorrect data about the domain name holder, but it can also occur due to decisions of law enforcement or court authorities or on the basis of Article 17 of the rules of domain name registration.
