TEL AVIVUnited States (US) Navy officials confirmed the fatal incident of two special forces personnel TEMPORARY NAVY in attacking a ship carrying weapons from the Yemeni Houthi group. Both drowned because they were carrying too much weight.

The incident, which was published by the American media as an embarrassing moment for the Navy SEALs, happened earlier this year, but was only confirmed by US Navy officer Vice Admiral George M Wikoff this week .

“This incident, characterized by systemic problems, was prevented,” Wikoff said of the “complex sting” operation that was trying to stop the transfer of weapons to the Houthi militia in Yemen, as name SputnikSunday (13/10/2024).

The incident occurred off the coast of Somalia earlier this year as the United States struggled to respond to the armed group’s blockade of the Red Sea – which was announced in response to Israel’s ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Navy SEALs tried to intercept the United States of combat equipment sent to the armed defense group when they tried to board the ship during a night operation in January.

Two Navy SEALs – one carrying 48 pounds of equipment and the other carrying 80 pounds of equipment – drowned because the weight of their equipment caused blowout devices to fail.

Senior Special Warfare Operator Christopher Chambers slipped while trying to grab hold of the ship’s rails and was swept away by the waves after falling nine feet into the sea below.

Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Nathan Gage Ingram, burdened with heavier equipment, jumped in to try to help Chambers but also drowned, according to a US Navy report.

“Seeing his teammates struggle, [Ingram] jump into the water to help [kepada Chambers]”, said the Navy report on the incident.

“Weighed down by the weight of each person’s equipment, neither their physical abilities nor their additional emergency flotation devices, if activated, were sufficient to keep them afloat,” the report continued.
