Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Education, Susanne Eisenmann, was “completely surprised” by the cases of a new virus mutation in a day care center in Freiburg. The case “presented us with a completely new situation”, said the CDU politician on Wednesday evening in Stuttgart at an online event of the state CDU entitled “Eisenmann wants to know”.

When a viewer asked for more planning and lead time for school openings, Eisenmann said the pandemic left little room for planning ahead. You cannot say what will happen from Monday. You can only see in a weekly or ten-day rhythm whether it is successful, said the minister with a view to the current lockdown measures.

If there should be openings at schools or daycare centers, the basis for this would be the opening procedure after Pentecost last year, said Eisenmann. For the daycare centers, for example, that means only fixed groups.

With a view to the cases of corona mutations in the state, the minister emphasized that Baden-Württemberg was now facing a new challenge.
