“Disease X” will be discussed in Davos

news-id-118344" style="display:inline;">“Disease X,” which may have 20 times the death toll of the coronavirus pandemic, is planned to be discussed at the World Economic Forum in Davos from January 15 to 19, Zakon.kz reports.

According to information published on the website VEFdiscussion is scheduled for January 17.

It will be attended by WHO head Tedros Ghebreyesus, Brazilian Health Minister Nizia Trindade and other specialists.

“Disease X” is an abstract disease that has the potential to cause an international epidemic. It is believed that such an epidemic would most likely be caused by a pathogen unknown to humanity.

In 2018, WHO included “Disease X” in its list of priority diseases to speed up research into the pathogen, which could potentially lead to a new pandemic. According to the head of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, the “X” in the name means “surprise.” In 2020, WHO stated that the first “pathogen X” should rightfully be recognized as the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which caused the COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to experts, there is a high probability that others will follow.

The Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantarov, will take part in the work of the Davos Forum. He will speak at the session “A New Dawn for Eurasia?”
