Duke University professor Miguel Nicolelis in his new work spoke about the disease that gives immunity to coronavirus infection, reports PRIMPRESS.
The scientist noted that the spread of COVID-19 is slower in those countries where outbreaks of a disease such as dengue fever were recorded several years ago. The professor stated that there is “immunological cross-reactivity between the dengue flavivirus and SARS-CoV-2 serotypes.”
According to Reuters, people who have had this fever have an immune response to COVID-19.
Note that Primorye is familiar with this disease firsthand. Every year, the inhabitants of the region bring this infection from hot countries. In recent years, this infection has literally “bloomed” in resort countries, especially in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, Singapore – in a word, in those places where residents of Primorye like to relax.
Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted by mosquito bites. Symptoms of the disease are high fever, nausea, rash, headache and back pain. According to Rospotrebnadzor, over the past two years there have been almost 400 cases of this disease in Russia.
