Alappuzha: A Malayali girl who came to Nagpur to compete in the national cycling polo has died. The deceased was Nida Fatima (10), a native of Alappuzha, Ambalapuzha Kakkazham. She reached Nagpur on 20th December to participate in National Sub-Junior Cycle Polo. On Wednesday night, Nida was rushed to the hospital after vomiting, but could not be saved. She died on Thursday morning. The bike polo matches were supposed to start today.
Teams from two associations traveled from Kerala to participate in the national sub-junior cycling polo championship. Nida was a team member of Kerala Cycle Polo Association. The boy had been vomiting continuously since last night. It was reported that as soon as the doctors gave the injection in the hospital, Nida collapsed and was transferred to a ventilator and died soon after. Her body is kept in Nagpur. He will be released to his relatives after the autopsy.
Although an organization registered with the Sports Council, the team, including Nida Fatima, came to the competition via a court order. However, it was alleged that the National Federation did not provide them with room and board. It was argued that the court only ordered to compete and the federation’s position was that no other facilities would be provided. The team was in temporary facilities in Nagpur. Sports Minister V.
