Discrepancies between Xunta and the Government delay the dredging of the O Burgo estuary | Radio Coruña

Discrepancies on the availability of the land delay the start of the works for the dredging of the O Burgo estuary. Central government, Xunta de Galicia and the surrounding town councils have held a telematic meeting today to try to unblock the action, but the meeting has barely served to verify these differences, especially between the regional and central executives. So far the dredging has not yet been put out to public tender for the execution of the planned works, despite the fact that it already has an economic starting State’s general budgets of the year 2018, with the contribution of funds from the European Union.

He State demands full certification that the land is at its full disposal to be able to undertake the planned work, as explained Pilar López Riobóo, Subdelegate of the Government in the province of A Coruña: “We are only waiting for the Xunta to issue the certificate of availability of the land, I ask the Xunta to row in the same direction to be able to start the dredging of the O Burgo estuary “.

The Galician Government indicates that the dredging will be carried out in public land maritime domain of the State, so you already have the land without the need for further administrative procedures. And he adds that the existence of permits for shellfish is compatible with this availability.

The Xunta offers to carry out the dredging if the state transfers the economic resources to do so. “We see a lack of votes and interest on the part of the State Government, we put a new solution on the table, we propose that we transfer the funds so that this game is executed as soon as possible and stays in Galicia,” he said after the telematic meeting the Minister of Infrastructure, Ethel Vázquez.

The municipal government of A Coruña demands that the two administrations, the central government and the Xunta de Galicia, resolve these differences and agree to carry out the works so that a dredging that accumulates years and years of delay does not continue to be delayed. The Council warns that if the delays continue European funds could be lost with those who were going to finance the dredging.
