“Discovery of Enceladus’ Water Vapor Plume by James Webb Telescope”

CIRCLE OF KEDIRI – The James Webb Telescope detected Saturn’s moon Enceladus spewing a large plume of water vapor, much larger than any previous outburst.

In 2005, a NASA spacecraft detected ice particles escaping from the ocean on the surface of Enceladus through cracks. However, the James Webb telescope has just detected these ice particles erupting further than previously thought, Nature reported May 18.

“Incredible,” said astronomer Sara Faggi. He said scientific research on the matter would be published soon.

The moon Enceladus excites astrobiologists because it is one of the few best places for humanity to search for extraterrestrial life.

The salty ocean beneath Enceladus’ ice sheet could be a haven for living things. The oceans can be maintained by chemical energy in hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor.

Material spewing from Enceladus, especially through fissures in the South Pole, is a direct link to the possibility of an extraterrestrial ecosystem.

James Webb’s invention of the telescope could provide additional foundation for NASA’s mission to the Moon Enceladus to search for signs of life. One of the proposals is to develop a self-propelled snake robot that can crawl under Enceladus’ ice sheet to explore the oceans.
