This discreet village, which lovers of preserved spaces jealously guard, is one of the great treasures of this department. Resulting from the meeting of the hamlets of Dio, Valquières and Vernazoubres, it rests at the foot of the volcanoes of Escandorgue, in the heart of the red soils of the lake of Salagou, in the shade of the limestone cliffs. If this painting is not enough to convince travelers, its heritage will eventually convince. Because in the middle of the four streams it hosts, the reliefs it rubs shoulders with and the vegetation that shelters it, this village is home to beautiful medieval houses, huddled around a 12th century church. Further on, its castrum attracts all eyes. A legendary fortress, whose origins date back to the Visigoths, the Château de Dio now serves as a setting for historical explorations and traditional festivals focusing on the medieval period.
