Châteauneuf-sur-Loire. Discovering the Green Green Parrot. The youth workshops offered by the Loire Marine Museum on Wednesdays during the Christmas holidays welcomed 29 children, aged 6 to 12.
This year the “Sacred Green-Green” theme allowed participants to discover the adventures of this devoted parrot who, in the 18th and century, belonged to the Visitandine nuns of Nevers.
The bird had been brought back by a sailor presumably from distant islands and spoke perfect Latin. But, entrusted to the boatmen, he learned from their contacts words that terrified the nuns …
After getting to know this funny little bird, the youngsters made a felt parrot to hang on the Christmas tree.
