Travel insurance is not required upon entry, but we still recommend that you take out a policy in advance, since medical services in Thailand are very expensive.

Where to relax in summer

The period from late May to mid-October in Thailand is considered the low season: at this time, the probability of rain is high. Does this mean that there is nothing to do in the country’s resorts in the summer? Of course not.

The vagaries of the weather do happen, but we are not talking about prolonged cold gray rains, but about short-term tropical downpours, which also often happen in the late afternoon or at night. Most of the rainy days, according to statistics, are in Phuket, but in Pattaya they are at least, but everywhere instead of discomfort they bring a pleasant coolness. Still, summer in Thailand is primarily a heat of about + 30 ° C, high humidity and a very warm sea (the average water temperature is + 27 ° C).

Prices will be a separate plus of the summer season: at this time, many travelers choose resorts on the Mediterranean and Black Seas, so airlines and hoteliers reduce prices, and also come up with pleasant promotions and bonuses for travelers. Food in cafes, fruits in markets and services in spas are also cheaper than at other times of the year.

Pattaya

This is one of the most popular Thai resorts among Russians: lively, noisy and relatively inexpensive. In summer, Pattaya is less crowded than in winter and spring. The sea is warm, you can swim, but strong waves are possible. Because of them, the water becomes dirtier, so experienced travelers are advised to go to the beaches of nearby islands, such as Ko Lan.

Summer weather is conducive to excursions and sightseeing, because being outside is quite comfortable. Go to the Khao Kheo Zoo or the Dolphinarium, see the miniatures of Mini Siam Park, spend the whole day at the Ramayana Water Park. In the evening, take a walk along the famous pedestrian Walking Street.

Phuket

Another popular location that attracts tourists all year round. Holidays in Phuket are very diverse: you can rent a simple bungalow on the beach and eat local street food, or you can choose a room in a luxury hotel and dine in a restaurant every day.

Phuket is especially famous for its nature: there are mountains, nature reserves, lakes, and waterfalls. And there are many viewing platforms from which you can see the island in all its glory and take amazing photos. And, of course, beaches: there are more than twenty of them on the western and southern coasts. Just keep in mind that in summer the weather on the island is unpredictable and the sea often storms. The most calm water will be on the beaches of Nai Yang, Panwa and Nai Harn. At the same time, it is warm everywhere, about + 30 ° С.

The rough sea attracts surfers. The highest waves in the summer are caught on the west coast, there are also good surfing schools where even beginners will be put on the board. And if you don’t feel like swimming in the sea, go to the huge Splash Jungle Water Park, where you can spend the whole day.

Bangkok

The capital of Thailand is not only a transit point on the way to the islands and resorts, but also an excellent location for those who come not to the sea, but for impressions. In a huge modern metropolis, there are many interesting sights and cool entertainment. You can learn about the local culture by visiting the Royal Palace, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, the Temple of Dawn and the Temple of the Golden Mount. Or you can walk around Chinatown, spend the whole day in the Siam Ocean World aquarium or the Dusit Zoo, visit the Dream World entertainment center … There are so many options that a week is definitely not enough.

And, of course, shopping lovers will like Bangkok: there are dozens of shopping centers, where sales are also held in the summer. And at this time of the year in Bangkok it is more comfortable under the roof: it rains often, especially in August. But mostly precipitation falls in the late afternoon and at night. But thanks to them, the city is not as hot as in spring.
